UAE Heatwave Impacts Energy Demand, Economic Activities Amid 48°C Temperatures

The United Arab Emirates is bracing for a significant rise in temperatures as intense summer heat is forecasted to sweep across the region in the coming days. Meteorologists predict that in some inland areas, the mercury could soar up to 48°C, a reflection of the early-summer weather pattern typical for this time of year. The National Centre of Meteorology reports stable weather conditions throughout the country, with clear skies and light to moderate winds being the norm, alongside minimal chances of noteworthy weather disturbances.

On Friday, inland areas are set to experience temperatures ranging from 44°C to 48°C, whereas coastal and island regions might see slightly cooler highs between 36°C and 43°C. In contrast, the mountainous areas are expected to record temperatures from 32°C to 39°C. The winds are predicted to flow from the southwest to northwest at speeds of 10 to 20kph, occasionally picking up to 30kph. Meanwhile, the sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman are anticipated to remain relatively calm.

The hot and predominantly clear weather conditions are expected to persist through the weekend. On Saturday morning, low clouds might form over sections of the eastern coast, and there could be instances when the wind strengthens, potentially reaching speeds of up to 40kph. By Sunday, a slight dip in temperatures is anticipated as northwesterly winds gain momentum, which may cause the Arabian Gulf to experience rougher conditions than usual, although the Sea of Oman is projected to remain slight to moderate.

Similar weather patterns are forecast for Monday and Tuesday, featuring fair skies and occasional morning clouds along the eastern coast. Windy periods are likely, which may freshen the breezes at times. As the week progresses, the sea conditions are expected to gradually improve, offering more stable maritime conditions early next week. Meteorologists emphasize that these weather patterns are consistent with the onset of early summer in the UAE, characterized by very hot daytime temperatures, clear skies, and generally stable atmospheric conditions.
