Global Submissions for UAE’s Zayed Prize Hit 10,233, Boosting Economic Impact

A surge in participation has marked the 2027 awards cycle for the Zayed Sustainability Prize, with the United Arab Emirates receiving an unprecedented 10,233 entries from 177 countries. This represents a 32% rise in submissions compared to the previous year, emphasizing the global interest in innovative projects that tackle pressing issues like climate change, health, food, energy, and water, along with initiatives from global high schools.

The competition is structured to reward groundbreaking efforts addressing these global challenges. Winners in the categories of climate, health, food, energy, and water are set to receive $1 million each. Additionally, finalists in these categories will be awarded $150,000. In the global high schools category, six winners will each receive $150,000, with finalists being granted $25,000.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, the Director General, pointed out that the record-breaking number of submissions underscores a rising global demand for innovative and practical solutions that can significantly enhance lives. Notably, more than two-thirds of the total applications originated from developing and emerging economies, with the climate action category attracting the majority of entries.

The announcement of the finalists is scheduled for September, with the awards ceremony set to honor the winners on January 12, 2027. This event will showcase the world’s leading sustainable solutions and recognize the outstanding efforts of individuals and organizations striving to make a difference in their communities and beyond.
