Dubai is gearing up for a transformative phase in its development, as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum unveils a massive Dh2.1 trillion project pipeline designed to bolster the emirate’s economic growth and global standing. The announcement was made at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, where Sheikh Mohammed outlined the ambitious plans that cover sectors such as real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure.

Real estate is set to be a cornerstone of this development strategy, with Dh1.1 trillion earmarked for projects through 2030. This includes the construction of approximately 350,000 residential units, aimed at accommodating Dubai’s expanding population and meeting rising housing demands. The initiative is part of a broader vision to develop a “city within a city,” a concept Sheikh Mohammed highlighted during the forum.

The aviation sector is another focal point, with significant investments planned to enhance capacity and infrastructure. Al Maktoum International Airport is set to receive Dh128 billion, aiming for a passenger capacity of up to 260 million annually. Additionally, Dh328 billion is allocated to expand the Emirates and flydubai fleets, alongside Dh18.7 billion for a new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex.

Infrastructure improvements are also on the agenda, with Dh100 billion dedicated to road enhancements and the expansion of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. The development of electricity and water networks will see an injection of Dh151 billion, while Dh80 billion is allocated for the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system.

Furthermore, the financial services sector will benefit from a Dh100 billion investment in the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre, reinforcing Dubai’s role as an international business hub. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that these investments are part of a long-term strategy to anticipate and meet future demand, ensuring sustainable growth and effective leadership.

This comprehensive project pipeline underscores Dubai’s commitment to expanding its economic landscape, improving transport connectivity, increasing aviation capacity, and enhancing essential services. By doing so, the emirate seeks to diversify its economy and attract further international investment, solidifying its position as a leading global business and investment destination.
