Following a deadly shooting at Hamoud Church in Jordan’s Karak Governorate, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has called for intensified efforts to combat extremism as a crucial step in eradicating terrorism and safeguarding regional security. Several lives were lost and others injured in the attack, prompting a strong condemnation from the UAE.
In a statement shared on his official X account, Sheikh Abdullah underscored the critical need to tackle extremist ideologies in conjunction with counterterrorism measures. He emphasized that addressing terrorism without confronting the underlying extremism would be insufficient in eliminating the root causes of violence.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs echoed Sheikh Abdullah’s sentiments by expressing solidarity with Jordan and condemning the attack. The ministry reiterated the nation’s firm stance against terrorism, extremism, and all forms of violence that threaten public safety and regional stability.
The UAE’s statement further highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to prevent extremist violence and ensure the protection of communities. This call to action aligns with the UAE’s broader commitment to promoting peace and security in the Middle East and beyond.
