Petrol and diesel prices in the United Arab Emirates may rise again in November, driven by increasing global crude oil costs and high shipping expenses. The price of Brent crude has surpassed $110 per barrel, with US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) nearing $100. These increases are fueled by escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and concerns over oil transportation, putting pressure on international energy markets.
The potential rise in November follows a significant hike in October, where UAE petrol prices surged by nearly 16% compared to September. The UAE’s monthly fuel pricing system ties domestic prices to international market conditions, suggesting that ongoing increases in crude oil prices could lead to further adjustments.
In September, the cost of Super 98 petrol was Dh3.80 per litre, Special 95 was Dh3.69, and E-Plus 91 was Dh3.61, while diesel stood at Dh4.30 per litre. These rates had already seen a substantial increase since February, when Super 98 was priced at Dh2.59, Special 95 at Dh2.48, E-Plus 91 at Dh2.40, and diesel at Dh2.72 per litre.
As the end of October approaches, motorists in the UAE are awaiting the official announcement of November’s fuel rates. Until then, it remains uncertain whether petrol prices will maintain their current levels above Dh4 per litre or experience further increases. The next review will continue to be influenced by the prevailing market conditions.
