Arab Market Sees 28.8% Trading Volume Increase Amid Lower Transaction Values.

In July, Arab stock markets experienced a substantial rise in trading activity, with the number of shares traded surging by 28.82% compared to June. This increase brought the total trading volume to 261.86 billion shares, up from 203.27 billion shares the previous month. The Iraq Stock Exchange played a significant role in this growth, with Egypt also contributing notably. Despite the uptick in trading activity, the overall value of transactions saw a decline.

The total value of transactions fell by 16.82%, dropping to $90.24 billion in July from $108.48 billion in June. This decline was evident across several key markets, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait. The discrepancy between the rise in trading volume and the fall in transaction value highlights a shift in market dynamics within the region.

Market performance across the region showed mixed results. Egypt’s EGX30 index stood out as one of the top performers, posting a significant gain of 5.85% during the month. Other regional exchanges also saw gains, although the overall market sentiment varied. These fluctuations reflect differing economic conditions and investor sentiments across the region’s markets.

Despite these mixed performances, the combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges remained relatively stable. There was a slight increase of 0.06%, bringing the total market capitalization to approximately $4.31 trillion. This stability suggests that while trading activities were more robust, the values did not translate into a proportional rise in market capitalization.

The trends observed in July underscore a period of increased trading activity across Arab stock markets, even as transaction values weakened and performances varied. The figures illustrate the complex landscape of Arab equity markets, where trading volumes can escalate independently of transaction value and market performance.
