In a move signaling the strengthening of international alliances, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Abu Dhabi’s Executive Affairs Authority Chairman Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak convened on Friday to reaffirm and expand cooperation between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. The meeting, held at South Korea’s Cheong Wa Dae, underscored the growing partnership between the two nations in several strategic sectors.
President Lee emphasized the importance of an agreement reached during his visit to the UAE the previous November, which aimed to foster a long-term collaboration. Expressing gratitude, he acknowledged the UAE’s critical role in prioritizing crude oil supplies to South Korea earlier this year. This gesture was part of an expanding bilateral cooperation that now spans defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and cultural exchanges.
Al Mubarak, relaying greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, described South Korea as a steadfast partner. He noted that the collaboration has matured beyond traditional energy and infrastructure projects, now encompassing investment, space exploration, healthcare, and education. This broader cooperation highlights the deepening ties between the two nations.
